Sharing my passion: hand lettering and calligraphy services

Hello, friends!

I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful and you’re getting settled into the idea that Christmas is now upon us.  I’ve decorated our home for the holidays and am enjoying my evening cup of peppermint hot chocolate.

What are you favorite holiday traditions?

I just started a new job, and I now work random hours and days.  I also work four ten-hour days so I get an extra day off each week, which really does make a difference in my mood.

Since I sometimes don’t go into work until 10 am, I get to sleep in a little and enjoy my cup of coffee while listening to some uplifting podcasts or working on my stationary business (more on that in a second).

I have to work until 8:30 pm and on weekends, sometimes and I probably have to work on Christmas Eve and Day….which stinks BUT, I get to take a personal day 3 days out of the week.  So it’s not so bad.  I’m loving all my time off.

Recently, I’ve been working on launching my stationary business that I just mentioned.  So for my whole life, I’ve been in absolute love with two things: weddings and the south.  Can you tell I’m a romantic???

When I planned my own wedding back in 2014, I was head over heals.  For my adorable hubby, and for my wedding 😉

I was given a budget with the precious money my parents had saved years for, and fit in everything by only going over 1%…..1%!  Now that’s wedding planning, at it’s finest.

Anthropologie Beaded Ribbon Headband • Anthropologie • $38
Bella Gown • BHLDN • $1,100
Michael Kors Acetate & Cubic Zirconia Slider Bracelet • Michael Kors • $125
Nadri Faceted Cubic Zirconia Drop Earrings • Nadri • $55
Sterling Silver Cubic Zirconia Cluster Bolo Bracelet • $92
J. Mendel Strapless Pleated Gown • J. Mendel • $1,650

My favorite part of the whole thing?  Hand writing (with my take on the art of calligraphy) on all my wedding invitations, bridal shower invitations, and thank you notes.  I would sit down and spend hours and hours curling my hand over thick stacks of envelopes, soaking up the ink on the side of my hand since I’m left handed.

Gold ink fluidly scripted away in my own fun flair on deep navy envelopes with a gold accented envelope liner, and a pink monogram pressed seal on the back.  Ahhh, this is true love.

I couldn’t wait to send them out to my guests and share with them excitedly our upcoming wedding.  I received so many compliments, and this is where I was hooked!  Of course, just knowing they loved them made it so much better, but I already decided it was something I would forever love to do and would eventually want to make a business from it.

So from there, I practiced.  Practiced on scrap paper, when I addressed my Christmas cards, sending birthday cards, and helping out friends who wanted a hand lettered sign or letter.

Calligraphy is so beautiful, I am in love with it’s tradition and it’s history.  Since I’m a romantic, and if you are too, you’ll understand how much this means to you if you are the receiver.  It can be a keepsake for a bride, a meaningful piece of artwork to hang in your home, and it provides that special touch of which isn’t commercialized and printed in bulk. It’s from the heart.

This is what passion is for me, and how I want others to feel when I help you create your personalized, hand lettered, and beautifully crafted invitations and other services and gifts.

It’s still in the works but if you have any questions or are interested in a consultation, please email me!  You can check out my services page for a little more info and my contact information.

I can’t wait to meet you and share my passion!
